SELF RELIANCE IS TRUE INDEPENDENCE

 

This independence day was quite different from the 24 previous years in my life. The COVID pandemic has given is once in a century/lifetime experience. It has disclosed our deficits and gave ample of opportunities to improve ourselves, community and the country. The lock-down difficulties are the holes in our tents that need patching up.

This independence day in our NITIE, we inaugurated SWADESHI MANDI in virtual mode. We had two excellent guests who graced us on the occasion.

1.       Shri Abhay Jere- Chief Innovation Officer, Ministry Of HRD, Govt. Of India

2.       Apeksha Madam, Founder of Zykaa Ka Tadka(NITIE ALUMNUS)

As the pandemic has called out the need of self reliance, Shri Abhay Jere sir gave his insights about how India can achieve self reliance. He has explained how India can achieve $5 trillion economy. He has stressed how the local community, local farmers market and kirana has worked their best when all big stores have given up. He has also stressed the need to be the leader, entrepreneur and create jobs rather than work under entrepreneur. The biggest lag in our country is research and development where India has patented very few products when compared to china and America. This helps us to go towards self reliance. He also told us that local products are no less and we need to promote ourselves.

         Aapeksha madam is a nitie alumnus- Graduated in the year 2007. She has left a prestigious job in P & G in order to pursue her dreams of becoming an entrepreneur in the field of her interest. After leaving her job she, along with her mother has started “zykaa ka tadka”- An online platform for home makers to upload their local food recipes and promote them with minimal expenses. This platform also holds many recipes of our moms and grand-moms forgotten by us. She told that everyone can pursue their dreams, they just need to go for it. She said that we should never stop dreaming BIG and her goal is to become an IPL manager.

India to become a developed country needs to use its young generation as innovators and entrepreneurs- as it has the youngest population in the world. We need to become independent, not depending on other countries so that it can grow into the strongest economy in the world.
